Solutions to Securing Lives and Livelihoods: Dialogue on Farmer and Pastoralist Conflicts in Kaduna, Zamfara and Katsina States
Over the last three decades, most of the states in the northern part of Nigeria have experienced violence attributed to conflicts between farmers and pastoralists. Farmer/Pastoralist conflicts are on the rise with catastrophic economic, social and political impacts. In 2012 the loss to GDP as a result of these conflicts was estimated at about 2.9%.
In July 2016 the Centre for Democratic Development Research and Training (CEDDERT), with support from DFID – ENABLE2 (Enhancing Nigerian Advocacy for a Better Business Environment), embarked on an evidence-based study of the farmer and pastoralist conflicts in Birnin Gwari-Dansadau-Sabuwa communities of Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara States.
We would like to invite you to this seminar, where we will share the findings of our study and encourage constructive dialogue among key stakeholders towards more effective policy formulation.
The seminar will take place on:
Date: Thursday 8th September, 2016
Venue: Arewa House, Kaduna
Time: 10am to 5pm
We eagerly look forward to having you in our midst for this very important seminar.
